‘Round the Farm

We still have a few Pasture-Raised Turkeys left (Get Yours Here)

It’s that time of year again! Argggg

Our Horses could care less about the cattle, as long as there’s good grass to eat.

Hey Reader,
You might’ve seen headlines this week about Argentina’s soybean and beef situation affecting US supplies and Chinese markets. Pretty wild stuff happening in the global food system.
But here’s the thing – when you buy from Longbottom Farm, none of that matters to your dinner table.
Crisis Creates Opportunity
I wrote an article this week for my other business (I help farmers build websites at homegrownhosting.com) about how these global disruptions actually create opportunities for local food systems. Not in a “told you so” kind of way, but in a real, practical sense.
When international supply chains get disrupted – whether it’s trade disputes, shipping delays, or whatever comes next – local food just keeps flowing.
Your beef doesn’t get held up at a port. Your pork doesn’t depend on tariff negotiations. Your eggs don’t need to cross an ocean.
The Beauty of Buying Local
It’s pretty much as it sounds – shorter supply chains mean fewer things can go wrong.
We’re just one of many small farms in this area raising food locally. Our animals are raised right here in Virginia, processed nearby, and delivered straight to you. No middlemen, no international logistics, no wondering where your food actually comes from.
We feel that this is one of those times where “crisis” for the global system becomes opportunity for local farms and the families who support them. Not because we’re rooting against anyone, but because buying local has always been the more resilient choice.
What This Means for You
Nothing changes on your end. Your grass-fed beef, Woodland pork, pastured poultry, and hand-gathered eggs keep coming from the same place – right here in central Virginia.
Rain or shine, trade war or calm markets, small farms like ours are raising food the same way we always have.
If anything, it’s a reminder of why we started Longbottom Farm in the first place. We wanted our family to have food we could count on, and we wanted to offer that same peace of mind to yours.
Let us know what you think. And if you’ve got neighbors asking questions about where their food comes from, feel free to point them our way or to any of the other great local farms in the area.
Thanks for reading, more to come. If it’s not good enough for our family, it won’t be put out there for yours.
Thanks for following us and allowing us to serve you. If you have questions, give us a shout! Have a wonderful week & Happy (Safe) Halloween!

With our appreciation,
Jason, Lexi, & Family
