No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, people in the richest country in the world shouldn’t be worried about food.
But here we are – 39 days into the longest government shutdown in history. Federal workers are missing paychecks. SNAP recipients are facing uncertainty about their benefits. And food banks across the country are seeing lines they haven’t seen in years.
While Washington’s been fighting over food policy, we’ve been doing what we do every week – raising animals responsibly, processing them with care, and making sure families know where their food comes from. That direct relationship matters more than ever when systems get shaky.
Look, I’m not naive.
I know our prices are higher than the grocery store. We’re not the answer for everyone’s grocery budget – especially right now when people are stretched thin.
If you’re facing financial pressure, hitting the sales at Aldi or your local store makes total sense. No judgment there whatsoever.
But here’s what we do offer: transparency and a direct relationship.
When grocery stores run low or government programs are uncertain, at least you know us. You know how we raise our animals, you know wher are farm is at, and when we do have product available, you know exactly what you’re getting.
I acknowledge we’re not always fully stocked – we’re a small operation and we sell out regularly – but we’re honest about what we have and when we’ll have more.
For some families, that direct connection and knowing their farmer is worth the investment.
For federal workers in our area going without pay: We have a limited number of ruptured seal packages – perfectly good meat, just can’t be sold – that we’d be happy to share.
Not charity, just neighbors helping neighbors. Reach out directly and we’ll figure it out.
For everyone else: If you’re in a position to stock up, now’s a good time.
These are investments in food security when everything else feels uncertain.
We can’t solve Washington’s dysfunction. But we can keep doing what we do – raising food the right way and making sure our community is fed.
Thanks for being part of this!
P.S. We still have a few Turkeys left and beef is being inventoried / added as we speak. Oh, and pork bundles and bulk shares are now available!
Thanks for following us and allowing us to serve you. If you have questions, give us a shout! Have a wonderful week!

With our appreciation,
Jason, Lexi, & Family
