‘Round the Farm

Family had a wonderful Christmas 🎄. Wish Santa would drop off an elf to help clean.

The YouTube â–¶ videos continue. Hoping to share with other farmers what we’ve learned (and what not to do).

And more Hay. Always hay these days 🌿
Rewrite Your Stories This New Year!

The New Year is here, and with it comes the tradition of setting resolutions. But this year, instead of focusing on goals like losing weight or saving money (which I’m already pursuing), I’m making a different kind of resolution.
My goal for 2024? To rewrite the stories I tell myself.
We all have these stories running through our heads. You know, the ones that quietly hold us back:
- I’m too introverted to do that.
- I don’t have the experience.
- It’s too late for me.
They feel so real that they start shaping who we think we are. But here’s the truth: these stories are just words. They’re not us. And if they’re not serving us, we can rewrite them.
“I’m Introverted.”
This used to be my favorite excuse. I told myself I wasn’t built for networking or meeting new people. But here’s what I’ve learned: introversion isn’t a weakness—it’s a different way of interacting with the world.
Instead of big, loud events, I’ve found one-on-one conversations work best for me. Writing this email to you? It’s another way I connect.
Rewriting this story helped me embrace who I am and find new ways to build relationships—on my terms.
“I Have No Experience.”

When we bought this farm eight years ago, I had no clue what I was doing. I told myself, You’re going to fail—you’ve never done this before.
But here’s the thing: you don’t need experience to start. You just need curiosity and the courage to try. Getting used to being uncomfortable.
Now, looking back, I see how far we’ve come. This farm has grown, not because I knew it all, but because I stopped letting “I don’t know” be the end of the story.
“I’m Too Old.”
This one hits close to home. Pushing 50 this year. It’s easy to think, “I missed my chance”. But the truth is, it’s never too late to start.
I could tell myself I’m to old, but then I’d just spend the next 10 years doing something else, and likely regretting the decision in 10 years.
Also, age isn’t a limitation—it’s an advantage. It means you have the patience and wisdom to tackle things you couldn’t when you were younger.
Sure, there is the physical demands, but there are ways of dealing with that, and the alternative (less active lifestyle) is a much worse option in my opinion.
My Resolution: Rewriting the Stories

This year, I’m making a commitment to ask myself: Is this story serving me? If the answer is no, I’m rewriting it.
- Instead of saying, I’m not good at this, I’ll say, I’m learning.
- Instead of, This is just the way I am, I’ll ask, How can I grow?
- Instead of “I’m no good at gardening”, I’ll say “I haven’t put forth the effort to be good at gardening”.
Rewriting these stories opens up possibilities. It helps us become who we can be instead of who we think we are.
What stories are you carrying into this New Year? Are they helping you—or holding you back?
If you’re ready to rewrite them, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Here’s to a year of rewriting, growing, and becoming the best versions of ourselves.
Thanks for following us and allowing us to serve you. If you have questions, give us a shout! Have a wonderful week and Happy New Year!

With our appreciation,
Jason, Lexi, & Family
