‘Round the Farm

I know a small animal swap hates to see me coming 🐓 🛒

This probably doesn’t look like much to most people, but this sweet girl was terrified of people (and everything else) when we first got her. Now she comes to us for affection and rest 🥰

The dynamic duo has been working hard and making us proud 🥹

A Prius isn’t a typical farm car, but this old gal has seen some things. Most recently a deer 🦌

Scam Alert!

Longbottom Farm does NOT sell cattle or calves.

Perfection is the Enemy of Good Enough

A couple of weeks ago, I shared about “getting back in the saddle” and the challenge of trying new things—or returning to old passions—despite feeling a bit rusty or uncertain.

Your responses were incredible and reminded me of just how universal this experience can be. Thank you for sharing your stories!

Recently, I’ve literally climbed back into the saddle after many years away from riding.

Truth be told, it’s different now. My endurance isn’t what it used to be, my balance feels less certain, and getting on and off the horse definitely takes more effort and concentration than I remember.

I’m also much more aware of my own vulnerability—something youth tends to disguise.

Yet, every ride brings small victories.

Sure, I’m not as smooth or confident as my younger self, but I’m doing it anyway. Facing this fear and pushing through has been incredibly rewarding, even if my performance isn’t flawless.

It reminded me that perfection is often the enemy of “good enough.”

There have been many times I’ve hesitated to start something because I feared my efforts wouldn’t measure up—either to my past performance or to others around me.

Those moments turned into missed opportunities.

I’m learning now that embracing “good enough” can be truly freeing.

If we wait until we’re perfect, we might wait forever.

So here’s my encouragement for you this week: savor your small victories.

Whether you’re starting something new or returning to something you loved, allow yourself the grace of “good enough.”

Because sometimes, being brave enough to try, regardless of the outcome, is victory enough.

Thanks for reading, and until next week!
